Azores (PT) - A Coruña (ES)

23 July - 06 August 2018

You´ll start this trip in Horta (island Faial) and sail south of Piconone of the easternmost islands of the Azores. On this beautiful island you have the time to hike one day. After some days of sailing (day and night) you discover the coast of Spain. If there is still some time we can take a sunbath/swim on one of the splendid Cies islands with its white beaches near the Spanish coast. This trip ends in the always lively La Coruña, one of our favorite Spanish places. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

The Azores are an archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, a welcome port of call for ships crossing the Atlantic. Nine of the seventeen volcanic islands are inhabited, with São Miguel and Faial as main population centres. Horta on Faial is a traditional stopover destination for passing ships. The Azores value sustainable tourism, and are rightly proud of their beautiful islands. Whale spotting is a popular activity on the waters around the islands, but the mountainous landscape is equally compelling.

A Coruña is a port town in the north west of Spain. Here you will find the Tower of Hercules, a lighthouse that has been in operation for 1.800 years! The town itself is an affluent commercial and tourism hub, with plenty of things to see and do. Visit the popular beaches, explore the city centre, or sample some of the many cultural activities. The Aquarium Finisterrae lets you explore the marine life of the region. But if you prefer your fish on a plate, A Coruña’s restaurants can help you out.
