International Youth Exchange with Erasmus+. Join your peers on this international voyage of sailing and development activities. Step on board in Vigo and get to know your peers with the help of games arranged by your mentors. After getting familiar with each other you will set the sails together and take a journey towards another port – most likely Santander or Bilbao, but maybe somewhere completely new, depending on the weather. During the trip you will take part in Sail Training programme, learning about sailing on a Tall Ship, while also enjoying different activities specially prepared by the mentors of this trip. Games, cultural evenings and other happenings will ensure you will not be bored on this trip! Participating countries: Spain, Portugal, Norway, Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland and UK. Open to young people aged 15-25, ages 26-28 at request.

Programme Outline

The Erasmus+ Youth Exchange program is a great mix of sail training adventure and multicultural experience. With many nationalities on board you will enjoy multiple activities. During the International Exchanges there will always be a professional sailing crew present to steer the Ship safely to the port, while mentors will organize your activities and be there if you need someone to talk to.

Discovering Europe's new Horizons is a project for 48 young people from 7 different countries to gain self-awareness, learn about other cultures and discover different ways of cooperation between nationalities. You will take part in various activities, from national dinners, through games and cultural nights, to debates and discussions.

The Creoula will enables you to participate in a strong experiential learning program of Sail Training; visit multiple interesting places and learn about sailing, different cultures, and about yourself. You will have the chance to discover and develop your talents, cross some personal boundaries and discover your personal and joint European identity.

You will be divided into watches and work on the Ship in shifts of 4 hours on, 8 hours off. That means two watches per day: one in daytime and one in the night, as the Ship doesn’t stop sailing when it gets dark! Don’t worry, your sleep pattern will soon adjust. The language on board will be English – simple English. Most of your activities will be carried out as a team. By the time you reach the destination port you will be like a family. Warning: saying goodbye won’t be easy!

Vigo is a coastal city in Galicia, Spain, close to the Portugese border. Stroll along the charming streets, hidden just behind the busy port; climb up to the castro Fortress for an unforgettable view of the Vigo Bay or take a day trip to the Cíes Islands. Visit O Berbés, a fishing neighborhood, where you can buy the fresh seafood and relax on Playa de Samíl.
