Programme Outline

Klaipéda is a city in Lithuania on the Baltic Sea coast. The city has many maritime traditions – it even hosts its own Sea Festival in July! – and its architecture bears influences from several different cultures (French, German, Swedish). Take a walk down the Friedricho pasažas, visit the reconstructed Meridianas ship, find the quirky Golden Mouse sculpture and visit the Clock Museum.

Lowestoft is a town on the North Sea coast of England. It is an old sea port and fishing center. Cherish the atmosphere of the lively harbour with its fountains, coffee shops and little food stands. Visit the Mincarlo – Floating Maritime Museum to learn about the life of fishermen in the old days or an old Lowestoft and East Suffolk Maritime Museum run by volunteers who will happily share their knowledge. For a relaxing afternoon take a walk in Somerleyton Hall and Gardens.

    Maurituis to Australia

    – by Hannah Hurford

When I found out that you could still sail traditional ships I remember thinking: a) this is probably a joke, and b) why have I not done it yet? I had experience sailing on yachts and dinghies but with an interest in naval …
