Escape the busy Christmas season and opt for simpler life in this fast-sailing journey from the rainy Netherlands to the Canary Islands! Join the Oosterschelde for almost 3 weeks, chasing the sun all the way to Tenerife. This is a delivery trip, which means few stops in ports and lots of sailing! As you sail south gradually the sky will get clearer and the temperatures higher, until you reach the Canaries, famous for their perfect sailing weather all year round. Disembark on the 2nd day of the New Year or sail on to Cape Verde – see the Rotterdam-Sal journey. Open to Windseekers of 15 years and older.

Ports

Rotterdam is the largest port of Europe, and a modern, bustling town. Much of the historic city centre was destroyed during World War II, but extensive rebuilding resulted in a modern, multicultural city with many architectural highlights. Rotterdam has excellent cultural facilities and a diverse nightlife; during the summer the city hosts a large number of events. Discover the city by bicycle and go for a coffee in Hotel New York, the former headquarters of the Holland America Line.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the shared capital of the Canary Islands, together with Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The central square Plaza de España is a real eye-catcher, situated between the ocean and the old, bustling city centre. Lose yourself in the crowded alleys, find a spot on one of the terraces, or leave town and discover the rugged volcanic landscape. The museum of Nature and Man is worth a visit. Chances are you’ll find pilot whales in the waters around Tenerife, so keep an eye out!
