There you can join the activities organised for all the vessels and the crewparade and crewparty. Open for all Windseekers and nationalities age 15-25 years Prenight and 2 afternigts possible, 60 EUR p.p. (B&B) Places at request via info@windseeker.org.

Programme Outline

The Tall Ships Races is the biggest annual sailing race of the year – and it’s been happening for over 6 decades now! The 2017 edition will be the 61st event and is scheduled to take place on the Baltic Sea, in 5 ports in 4 different countries. Ships from different countries, a lot of them with international crews, are scheduled to take part, making it a truly multicultural event and a great place to make sailor friends from all over the world!

As a Windseeker Trainee on board Santa Maria Manuela you will be a part of the crew, meaning you will have the chance to join many on-board activities. You will join your peers on watches day and night, and take active part in the life on the ship. You’ll be hoisting sails, steering the ship, practicing seamanship skills and learning the art of navigation, guided by the professional crew. And you will sail to win the race!

Ports

Kotka is located in the gulf of Finland and is a major Finnish port on the Baltic Sea. You can experience its long maritime traditions by visiting the Maritime Centre Vellamo with the world's oldest ice-breaker, and if you have more time, stop by the aquarium with a big exhibition of local, baltic sealife – maybe you will even get to see the feeding done by a diver! Climbe the Haukkavuori tower for a view of the town and seaside and take a refreshing stroll through the Sapokka Water Park.

Turku is a Finnish city dating back to the XIII century. Join in the ships' spectacular route through the Turku Archipelago before being brought right into the middle of the city on the banks of the Aura River. Walk the cobblestone streets, visit the medieval castle, Forum Marinum maritime centre, or one of many art museums. Take a stroll down the river bank to find your favourite little restaurant or cafe.
