Hebrides Sailing Expedition. Take some time off at the end of summer for visiting Scotland from a new perspective: from the board of a Tall Ship. In this journey Thalassa will take you from Oban, via many charming towns on Scottish Islands and mainland, before diesmbarking in Invergordon. This journey is open to Windseekers of 15 years or older.
Oban (meaning ‘little bay’ in Gaelic) is a small harbor town on the west coast of Scotland, famous for its whiskey distillery. The town occupies a beautiful setting in the Firth of Lorn, and is a perfect place to find shelter from the Atlantic. Walking around town is a pleasure, and close by you’ll find mountains, castles, dramatic coastal scenery, and McCaig’s tower that resembles the Colosseum. In the first week of August, the town plays host to West Highland week, a yearly sailing regatta.
Invergordon is a town and port in the Highland of Scotland. For years a typical industrial town, known for the repair of oil rigs and as a place for aluminium smelters, nowadays the port is visited by cruise liners each year. The town is popular because of the whisky distillery by Whyte and Mackay. Besides that, Invergordon has beautiful murals, which tell stories about the local community and the area. In total the town is adorned with a series of 17 murals. They are all worth going to see.
