Anne-Margaretha:
Akureyri (IS) - Den Helder (NL)

17 September - 07 October 2021

From Iceland to the Netherlands via Scotland. Join Anne-Margaretha for a 3-weeks adventure of sailing and exploring! Step on board in the north of Iceland and sail along the east coast. When the wind allows you will make a crossing to Scotland: perhaps visiting Faroe Islands before making your way to the Shetlands. You will have plenty of time to discover various places in Scotland, so don’t forget to bring your hiking boots! Finally you will cross the North Sea towards Den Helder where Anne-Margaretha will end her adventurous season. This trip is suitable for bird watchers, sailors and hikers who enjoy the sometimes strong autumn weather! The journey ends at 12:00 pm but we advise you book a flight home at the end of that day as a precaution. Prices include €15 administration fee. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years (younger Windseekers on request, when accompanied by an adult).

Ports

Akureyri is a small city in northern Iceland. It is an important port and fishing centre. The Norse Viking Helgi Magri (the slim) Eyvindarson originally settled the area in the 9th century. The city is surrounded by mountains, the highest being Kista (1447 m) and another peak of 1538 m at the head of Glerádalur. Go hiking for a day over the mountains or along the water. Enjoy the quiteness here and the great views with snowy hilltops. Nature is beautiful here and offers great photo material.

Den Helder is a beautiful town in the Netherlands, situated at the very tip of the North Holland province. Visit the Marinemuseum to learn more about the country’s marine traditions, take a walk in the botanical gardens Oranjerie De Groene Parel Den Helder or admire sealife in the Fort Kijkduin Museum and Aquarium.
