Anne-Margaretha: Longyearbyen (SJ) - Bear Island (SJ) - Tromsö (NO)
17 July - 28 July 2021
Cross the Barents Sea over 600 nautical miles. Board the Anne-Margaretha in Svalbard (Spitsbergen) and spend a few days exploring the magnificent fjords and polar wildlife of the arctic island before setting course south towards the remote Bear Island. Depending on the conditions, you might be able to visit the Norwegian Weather Station and earn your “Certificate of Nude Swimming in Arctic Water” there. The last crossing will bring you to northern Norway, which – time permitting – you might explore a little bit before disembarking in Tromso. On this trip there is a possibility to see reindeer, puffins, and perhaps even whales. The journey ends at 12:00 pm but we advise you book a flight home at the end of that day as a precaution. Prices include €15 administration fee. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years (younger Windseekers on request, when accompanied by an adult).
Longyearbyen is a capital of Norwegian Svalbard archipelago, located on the Spitsbergen island. If you want to experience the arctic climate, although tempered by a warm current, Spitsbergen is the place to visit. Look for seabirds, reindeer and marine mammals but watch out for polar bears! Don’t be fooled by the town’s remote location and small size: you can find there two museums, art galleries and a cinema.
Only 2000 km from the North Pole Tromsö is the capital of Norway’s high north, home to 70 000 inhabitants who live on the edge of the Arctic. This well operated cruise destination is positioned in a spectacular setting between islands, iconic fjords and mountain peaks, midway between the North Cape and Lofoten Islands.
