Atyla:
Mariehamn (FI) - Szczecin (PL)

24 July - 02 August 2021

The Tall Ships Races 2021, Race 3. Across the Baltic Sea. Sail from Aaland islands, off the coast of Finland, to Szczecin in Poland. Join the Atyla in Mariehamn and leave the harbour in a Parade of Sails. Then make your way to the starting line of the last race of this event. Sail over 400 nautical miles on a beautiful Tall Ship. Trim the sails, navigate, steer; make international friends, look at the stars during the night watch and search the horizon for other ships during the day. Compete against dozens of other vessels for an award in many different categories. Reach Szczecin and spend the last two days of your adventure participating in port events: Crew Party, Crew Parade, friendly competitions, concerts and more. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Programme Outline

Ports

Mariehamn is the capital of Aaland Islands, an autonomous archipelago off the coast of Finland. The town has maritime ties, seen when visiting the Aaland Maritime Museum and the impressive Pommern museumship. Don’t miss the old Maritime Quarter with its old fishermen houses and boats. With less than 12,000 inhabitants Mariehamn has a cozy and friendly atmosphere.

Szczecin in North-Western Poland has a deep commitment to sail training. Discover the Underground City Trails: a network of bunkers from WWII with their unique atmosphere. If you’re more of an outdorsy type, take a canoe along the Odra river or explore Bukowe Hills which hide the ruins of old bridges and are home to numerous boars and deer. Visit one of many museums or the Castle of Pomeranian Dukes or the beautiful rose gardens.
