Bark Europa:
Hobart (AU) - Falkland Islands (FK)

05 September - 22 October 2020

Official attempt rounding Cape Horn: sailing from 50 degrees South in the Pacific Ocean to 50 degrees South in the Atlantic without the use of engine. In this epic voyage of 48 days you will sail 6000 nautical miles on the South Pacific. It is the ultimate adventure. Weather and wind will shape your route and the result will hopefully be to round Cape Horn. To successfully complete this attempt, only the sails may be used. Keep in mind that this difficult voyage asks a lot of everyone on board and it will most probably put your stamina to the test – but what a satisfaction! Due to the difficulty of this voyage ,additional recruitment procedure applies. Limited places in 2-person cabins – contact us to confirm availability. Not included in the price are landing fees in Falkland Islands – to be paid on board. Indication: GBP 15-25 per landing, 1-2 landings per day. Payable in USD, EUR or GBP.

Ports

Hobart is the capital city of the Australian island of Tasmania. Once there don’t miss the spectacular views from Mount Wellington! Spend the day with exotic animals of the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary or among the plants in the botanical garden. If you’re an art-lover the Museum of Old and New Art is a must-see. Follow the exciting day with a seafood dinner on the pier.

Falkland Islands is a British overseas territory and an archipelago at the very south of South American continent. The breathtaking nature is the main reason for tourism, with amazing landscapes and numerous species of birds (including pinguins), seals and dolphins. Even if you’re not much of a nature lover you will still find things to do. Check out the local woolen crafts – or join workshops to make some yourself; see a traditional dance performance and don’t miss The Historic Dockyard Museum.
