Blue Clipper traineeship. Are you interested in career at sea? Do you want to learn more about sailing on board a classic tall ship? Then the Blue Clipper Traineeship might be that experience you have been looking for! Spend 63 days on board, becoming fully immersed in life as a crew member and learning everything about sailing a Tall Ship. This is a voyage of discovery. Not only will you discover everything you need to know about sailing a traditional schooner, you will also discover a great deal about yourself! Learn every aspect of working and living on board a traditional sailing vessel. During your traineeship you will be assigned different roles, allowing you to truly experience every aspect of sailing and living on board. Whether you’re looking at a career at sea or simply want to experience a long-term sailing journey, this is the perfect opportunity to get your sea legs!
For Windseekers aged 18+. Before joining you will need to fill out an application form – contact info@windseeker.org It is a requirement of the traineeship to hold a current ENG1 or ML5 Medical, or equivalent.

Ports

Oban (meaning ‘little bay’ in Gaelic) is a small harbor town on the west coast of Scotland, famous for its whiskey distillery. The town occupies a beautiful setting in the Firth of Lorn, and is a perfect place to find shelter from the Atlantic. Walking around town is a pleasure, and close by you’ll find mountains, castles, dramatic coastal scenery, and McCaig’s tower that resembles the Colosseum. In the first week of August, the town plays host to West Highland week, a yearly sailing regatta.

Mallaig is a fishing port in the Scottish Highlands. The picturesque West Highland railway line links Mallaig with Glasgow and with beautiful vistas it is an attraction in itself. From the port you can take a ferry to the popular destination Isle of Skye, as well as other nearby islands. Visit the Mallaig Heritage Centre or take a walk outside of the village and admire the surrounding nature.

This Journey is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions for this guarantee scheme on STO Garant’s website (www.sto-garant.nl/en/downloads).

This process is automatic and you do not need to do anything else. After receiving your booking, Windseeker will send you detailed information on how and when to pay for your journey – together with all the other important details.

 

What does it mean?

In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee.
