Challenge Wales:
Amsterdam (NL) - Gosport (GB)

12 August - 18 August 2019

Homeward Bound: part two. Help bring Challenge Wales home after an exciting summer of sailing events. Join the vessel in Amsterdam, a city filled with maritime traditions. Meet your crewmates and leave the harbour to sail along the Dutch and Belgian coasts, towards the English Channel. You will join the professional crew in all activities on board, learning to steer, navigate, trim the sails, and helping to keep the vessel going. Finally, you will reach the south of England and your destination: Gosport, the homeport of Challenge Wales. Say goodbye to your new friends and go back home full of new experiences! Open for Windseekers aged 16-31.

Ports

With more bicycles than people, cycling is an integral part of Amsterdam's DNA. Hop on and see the city like the locals do! Winding waterways, idyllic bridges and historic buildings - one of the most memorable ways to truly see Amsterdam is from the canals. Amsterdam has a full cultural agenda showcasing the very best festivals, nightlife, exhibitions & events, plus there is enough practical tourist info, hotel, museum, excursion & attraction listings, you won't miss a thing!

The Gosport peninsula has 17 miles (27 km) of waterfront on Portsmouth Harbour and The Solent and is a maritime playground for all. Until the last quarter of the 20th century, Gosport was a major naval town. The pebble beach at Stokes Bay slopes steeply into the sea which is great to see. It offers fine views of the shipping going in and out of Portsmouth and Southampton and the many pleasure craft from the many marinas along The Solent and the Isle of Wight.
