Eendracht:
Brest (FR) - Lisbon (PT)

01 November - 10 November 2020

Brave the Bay of Biscay and experience the sea in all its simplicity. No mobile coverage, no television and no internet. A unique experience where you become one with nature. Learn to sail a large ship: handle the sails, steer, navigate… Search the waves for dolphins and make new friends while making your way south, along the western coast of Europe. The icing on the cake during this trip is of course the final destination – one of the oldest cities in Europe: Lisbon! Extend your stay by a full day for additional €60 and spend the time exploring the city to prolong your vacation. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Brest is a major French port on the Atlantic coast, historically of strategic importance. Much of the town was destroyed during World War II, but some historic landmarks remain. Today Brest is an important navy port, so expect to see war ships berthed in the harbor. Every four years, Brest hosts the international festival of the sea, boats and sailors, with many Tall Ships attending. South of Brest you will find national park d’Armorique, a tranquil reserve where you can escape from the city.

Lisbon has a long and varied history as a major trading hub, much of which is still visible in the old city centre. Discover Alfama, the old quarters with its many old alleys, steps and the Lisbon Cathedral. The famous tram line 28 will get you there – an experience in and of itself. And be sure to check out a fado concert if you want to learn about saudade – loss, yearning and comfort, all rolled into one. Emotions that all seafarers will get to know one way or the other…
