Eendracht:
Brest (FR) - Rotterdam (NL)

29 March - 05 April 2020

Early spring voyage. Start the sailing season with a week on board the Eendracht. Step on board in French city of Brest and set course for the Eendracht’s homeport in Rotterdam. Sail the ship day and night, in a watch system, steering, navigating and trimming the sails. You will also have enough time to relax with a book, swap sailing stories with other trainees and crew, or simply look at the stars and contemplate the universe. Take a break from you daily routine, switch off your phone and find joy in simple things like passing by beautiful landscapes, a perfectly-done sailing maneuver or a nice hot cup of coffee during a night watch. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Brest is a major French port on the Atlantic coast, historically of strategic importance. Much of the town was destroyed during World War II, but some historic landmarks remain. Today Brest is an important navy port, so expect to see war ships berthed in the harbor. Every four years, Brest hosts the international festival of the sea, boats and sailors, with many Tall Ships attending. South of Brest you will find national park d’Armorique, a tranquil reserve where you can escape from the city.

Rotterdam is the largest port of Europe, and a modern, bustling town. Much of the historic city centre was destroyed during World War II, but extensive rebuilding resulted in a modern, multicultural city with many architectural highlights. Rotterdam has excellent cultural facilities and a diverse nightlife; during the summer the city hosts a large number of events. Discover the city by bicycle and go for a coffee in Hotel New York, the former headquarters of the Holland America Line.
