Eendracht:
Rotterdam (NL) - Vlissingen (NL)

30 May - 02 June 2019

Long Weekend – Ascension Under Sail. Take a short sailing journey in late spring, whether you’re an experienced sailor looking for a break or a total beginner wanting a short taste of Sail Training. Board the Eendracht at her homeport in Rotterdam in the morning. After a briefing from captain you will embark on the journey south along the Dutch coast. As part of the trainee-crew you will be working in watches of 4 hours and actively sailing the ship day and night to her destination. If weather permits you will visit another port along the way – but remember, it’s not a cruise ship and some flexibility will go a long way! So get into the adventurous spirit and board the Eendracht for an exciting long weekend. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Rotterdam is the largest port of Europe, and a modern, bustling town. Much of the historic city centre was destroyed during World War II, but extensive rebuilding resulted in a modern, multicultural city with many architectural highlights. Rotterdam has excellent cultural facilities and a diverse nightlife; during the summer the city hosts a large number of events. Discover the city by bicycle and go for a coffee in Hotel New York, the former headquarters of the Holland America Line.

Vlissingen is a port town in the southwest of Netherlands, dating back to the 7th century when it was first established as a fishing village. Notably, Vlissingen has the longest seafront promenade in the Netherlands, where you can take a long walk and enjoy the multiple historical monuments along the way. When you've had enough of walking, visit the Maritime muZEEum with its interactive exhibits and passionate staff. Wherever you end up, enjoy the atmosphere of a 14-centuries old seaside town.
