International Exchange during the Tall Ships Races: Race 2. For young trainees aged 15-25 from all countries. Step on board the impresssive Tall Ship Gulden Leeuw in the capital of Estonia and embark on an exciting race to Mariehamn in Aaland Islands. Leave port in a spectacular Parade of Sail and make your way to the starting line to enjoy the thrill of a race against many other Ships. Climb the masts, steer, navigate; learn to make knots, explore the engine room and fill the logbook with your observations of the sea. Learn more about your crew mates by joining fun activities organised by an experienced mentor on board. Get your sea legs and enjoy time out in nature before reaching Mariehamn in time to enjoy the last two days of your journey in port, participating in crew activities and taking the time to say goodbye to your new international friends.

Ports

Tallinn is a capital of Estonia, situated on the north coast of the country. It lies on the shore of Baltic Sea, in the Bay of Finland. When visiting, you must see the old town dating back to the medieval times and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Of course you can’t miss the Estonian Maritime Museum which depicts the country’s long maritime traditions. The Seaplane Harbour is a high tech museum which offers a very unique experience while climbing Kohtuotsa will provide you with a beautiful vista.

Mariehamn is the capital of Aaland Islands, an autonomous archipelago off the coast of Finland. The town has maritime ties, seen when visiting the Aaland Maritime Museum and the impressive Pommern museumship. Don’t miss the old Maritime Quarter with its old fishermen houses and boats. With less than 12,000 inhabitants Mariehamn has a cozy and friendly atmosphere.

This Journey is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions for this guarantee scheme on STO Garant’s website (www.sto-garant.nl/en/downloads).

 

What does it mean?

In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee.
