Dunkirk (FR) - A Coruña (ES)

14 August - 28 August 2021

*Places at request* Tall Ships Races Magellan – Elcano 500 series 2021, Race 1: Across the Bay of Biscay. Join the Morgenster in the French city of Dunkirk for an unforgettable adventure! Cross the famous Bay of Biscay under sails, racing other Tall Ships to Spain. Sail the ship, together with professional crew: from steering and navigating to climbing the masts, trimming the sails and standing on lookout. Search the waves for dolphins, look at the stars and enjoy being out on the open sea with no disruptions. Reach A Coruna to spend the last two days in port – march, sing and chant in the Crew Parade, meet international trainees at Crew Party, compete in games and enjoy the atmosphere of a huge maritime festival. Open to all Windseekers over 15 years old.

Ports

Dunkirk is the northernmost city in France and one if its biggest harbours. It lies very close to the Belgian border and dates back to middle ages when it was a fishing village. Dunkirk’s maritime heritage is clearly visible, and celebrated. You can visit the Port Museum (Musée Portuaire), climb to the top of Le Beffroi de Saint-Eloi for unforgettable views or relax in one of the multiple seafront cafes and bars.

A Coruña is a port town in the north west of Spain. Here you will find the Tower of Hercules, a lighthouse that has been in operation for 1.800 years! The town itself is an affluent commercial and tourism hub, with plenty of things to see and do. Visit the popular beaches, explore the city centre, or sample some of the many cultural activities. The Aquarium Finisterrae lets you explore the marine life of the region. But if you prefer your fish on a plate, A Coruña’s restaurants can help you out.
