Tall Ships Races 2021: Race 1. Ready, set, go! The Tall Ships Races are coming back, starting with a spectacular event in Lithuaninan Klaipeda. Board the Morgenster during the festivities and get to know the crew before departing. Leave the harbour in a Parade of Sail and set course due north, to the Finnish Turku. On the way you will learn everything you need to know about sailing the Morgenster. Feel the wind in your hair as you stand behind the helm of a Tall Ship; see the world from above while you work with sails up on the mast; learn to plot your course on the sea charts and spend unforgettable time out on the open sea. Spend the last two days of your adventure in Turku, enjoying everything a Tall Ships festival has to offer before saying goodbye to your new friends. Open to all Windseekers over 15 years old.
Klaipéda is a city in Lithuania on the Baltic Sea coast. The city has long maritime traditions – it even hosts its own Sea Festival in July! – and its architecture bears influences from several different cultures (French, German, Swedish). Take a walk down the Friedricho pasažas, visit the reconstructed Meridianas ship, find the quirky Golden Mouse sculpture and visit the Clock Museum.
Turku is a Finnish city dating back to the XIII century. Join in the ships’ spectacular route through the Turku Archipelago before being brought right into the middle of the city on the banks of the Aura River. Walk the cobblestone streets, visit the medieval castle, Forum Marinum maritime centre, or one of many art museums. Take a stroll down the river bank to find your favourite little restaurant or cafe.
