Coastal Explorer. Join the Oosterschelde for the first journey of this unique spring season. Step on board in the Ship’s homeport Rotterdam and embark on a wonderful adventure. Sail on the North Sea, through the Strait of Dover to the English Channel. You will most likely make a first stop somehwere there. Then you will round the Brittany and enter the famous Bay of Biscay. Make another stop to visit Belle Île (literally: Beautiful Island – need we say more?) Finally you will reach Vannes, a picturesque town in the Gulf du Morbihan and say goodbye to your new friends after exciting 10 days of sailing and visiting. IMPORTANT: Due to coronavirus the maximum number of people on board has to be reduced. You can only share a cabin with a family member, and never with a stranger. Are you traveling alone? In this case, you’ll have to book a single cabin. This journey is subject to special, more flexible COVID booking/cancellation conditions.
Rotterdam is the largest port of Europe, and a modern, bustling town. Much of the historic city centre was destroyed during World War II, but extensive rebuilding resulted in a modern, multicultural city with many architectural highlights. Rotterdam has excellent cultural facilities and a diverse nightlife; during the summer the city hosts a large number of events. Discover the city by bicycle and go for a coffee in Hotel New York, the former headquarters of the Holland America Line.
Vannes is a medieval French town with a distinctly Breton character. The well-preserved old city centre boasts many small pedestrian streets and colorful buildings, so go ahead and explore! Its sheltered location in the Golfe du Morbihan makes Vannes a populair sailing destination, and the surrounding countryside offers beautiful scenery – a perfect setting for a hike!
