Coastal Explorer: From the Netherlands to France. Sail the Oosterschelde on a week-long journey in early July. Learn to sail a traditional Tall Ship: hoist the sails, steer, navigate, and – if you want – climb the masts to work aloft! Make new friends and relax together after watch, either on deck or in Ooosterschelde’s cozy saloon. You can also join a combination voyage and embark in Kiel before sailing to Scheveningen and then Boulogne-sur-Mer. IMPORTANT: Due to coronavirus the maximum number of people on board has to be reduced. You can only share a cabin with a family member, and never with a stranger. Are you traveling alone? In this case, you’ll have to book a single cabin. This journey is subject to special, more flexible COVID booking/cancellation conditions.

Ports

Scheveningen is a popular sea resort in the Netherlands, a stone’s throw away from the seat of government in The Hague. It has a busy marina and a lively (somewhat kitschy) promenade – great for an afternoon of sightseeing. You’ll also find plenty to do nearby. Go for a walk in the dune landscape or take a tour around the Palace of Peace. Visit Madurodam to see the Netherlands rebuilt in miniature, check out the city centre of The Hague, or explore the beach and perhaps even go kitesurfing.

Boulogne-sur-Mer is an ancient port town in northern France. Visit the breathtaking Nausicaá, one of the largest aquariums in Europe – it’s a must-see! To hide from the sun go down to the mysterious Crypte de la Basilique Notre-Dame’s underground corridors and chambers. Emerge to take a stroll along the old Ville Fortifiée, see the 12th-century belfry, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and afterwards head to the beach for a relaxing afternoon.
