Santa Maria Manuela: Lisbon (PT) - Sao Miguel (PT)
28 May - 06 June 2021
*Places at request* From Europe to the Azores. This journey will bring you from Portugal, over 800 nautical miles to the remote archipelago of the Azores. This beautiful destination is still not very popular with tourists, but due to its location it has long been a port of call for sailors crossing the Atlantic. Now you can visit it on a traditional Portuguese Tall Ship, chanelling the energy of past explorers! The professional crew on baord will teach you everything you want to know about sailing. Learn to hoist and trim the sails, make useful knots and steer Santa Maria Manuela to her destiantion. Enjoy the digital detox and spend your days looking at the endless horizon, searching for dolphins and, once you get closer to the Azores, whales. In the night, look up at the starry sky, free of the light pollution. Make new friends, spend time outdoors, and have an unforgettable adventure. For Windseekers of all ages, minimum age 14 years (trainees 14-18 have to be accompanied an adult).
Lisbon has a long and varied history as a major trading hub, much of which is still visible in the old city centre. Discover Alfama, the old quarters with its many old alleys, steps and the Lisbon Cathedral. The famous tram line 28 will get you there – an experience in and of itself. And be sure to check out a fado concert if you want to learn about saudade – loss, yearning and comfort, all rolled into one. Emotions that all seafarers will get to know one way or the other…
Sao Miguel in the Azores is also known as The Green Island – and for a good reason! If you love nature, hiking and taking in beautiful vistas, this is the place to visit. You can rent quads and go canyoning. There are also interesting museums and research places dedicated to the volcanic nature of the islands – visit them and you will almost certainly learn something new.

What does it mean?
In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee. The Guarantee Scheme details how you can make a claim under the guarantee in such cases. You can read more about this here.
