Isafjordur (IS) - Isafjordur (IS)

21 June - 28 June 2021

* Places at request * Exploring the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve on the edge of the Arctic Circle. Explore the north-west coast of Iceland from the board of a traditional sailing ship. The highlight of this journey is visitng Hornstrandir Nature Reserve, which can only be reached from water. Spend the week sailing and hiking, living the adventure to the fullest! Expect to see flowery fields, arctic foxes with their cubs, nesting birds (including the iconic puffins) and very possibly – whales who come to these waters to feed. See impressive fjords and beautiful glaciers, visit old settlements in the remote areas and enjoy spending time in nature. Afterwards catch the plane from Isafjordur or consider staying for a bit on your own and continue your Icelanding vacation on land. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Isafjordur (meaning ‘fjord of ice’) is a small port town in the northwest of Iceland. It is a major access point to the nature reserve on the Hornstrandir Peninsula, an uninhabited wilderness area to which ferries run weekly during summer. Despite its small population of 2600 people, the town has a relatively urban feel. It is considered a centre for alternative music and there’s even a hospital. Have a look around in the Maritime museum or go for a tour of the waterfalls and the nearby fjords.

STO Garant

This Journey is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions for this guarantee scheme on STO Garant’s website (www.sto-garant.nl/en/downloads).

What does it mean?

In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee. The Guarantee Scheme details how you can make a claim under the guarantee in such cases. You can read more about this here.
