Reykjavik (IS) - Faroe Islands (FO) - Ullapool (GB)

16 September - 07 October 2021

Following in the Vikings’ Footsteps. Board the Tecla in Iceland and slowly trace your way to Scotland along all the island groups in between. Visit the Faroe Islands, Shetland Islands, Orkney Islands and Outer Hebrides. This is a journey through time following the ancient navigators. A cultural and natural voyage, this is a great combination of historical sites and rare wildlife (look out for humpback and killer whales!) – and of course adventurous Atlantic sailing! Standing stones and spitting geysers, golden eagles, otters and arctic foxes are all part of the places you will visit. Enjoy the cultures and cuisines of these often remote island communities before making your way to the charming fishing port of Ullapool. Don’t forget your hiking boots and camera! Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Reykjavík is the capital of Iceland. As you approach from the sea, you’ll sea a modern city skyline with snowy volcanic mountains in the background. Reykjavík is quite cosmopolitan, with plenty of culture and entertainment. Go for a night on the town, or find a tour that takes you to see the glaciers, geysers, and volcanoes for which Iceland is famous. Reykjavík’s climate is less cold than you’d expect. At Nauthólsvík you’ll even find a geothermically heated beach!

Ullapool, despite its small size is the largest settlement for many miles around and a major tourist destination of Scotland. The village was founded in 1788 as a herring port by the British Fisheries Society. A few Cordyline australis or New Zealand cabbage trees are grown in the town and are often mistaken for palms. The harbour is still the edge of the village, used as a fishing port, yachting haven, and ferry port. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings here.
