Thalassa:
Antwerp (BE) - Aalborg (DK)

24 July - 06 August 2022

The Tall Ships Races 2022: Race 2. Back to Denmark! Joint the last race of this year’s event and sail on the North Sea from Belgium to Denmark. Step on board the Thalassa in beautiful Antwerp and leave the harbour in a spectacular Parade of Sail, watched by thousands of people on land. Set the sails and join the race, sailing day and night to reach the finish line. Along the way you will learn from professional crew and get your sea legs: from setting sails, to climbing, to steering the Ship – nothing beats the feeling of being on a traditional Tall Ship! After watch relax with your new friends on deck, look for dolphins in the sea, watch the stars undimmed by the light polution and the endless horizon. Reach Aalborg with two days to spare and enjoy the award ceremony, Crew Party, fireworks and lots of other events, before you disembark. Open to Windseekers aged 15-25 (26-28 at request).

Ports

This city in Belgium is the capital of Antwerp province. With a population of 510,610 it is the most populous city in Belgium. Its metropolitan area houses around 1,200,000 people. Antwerp is on the River Scheldt, linked to the North Sea by the Westerschelde estuary. The Port of Antwerp is one of the biggest in the world, ranking third in Europe and within the top 20 globally. There is a theory about the name Antwerp: “The wharf where ships berth”.

The Tall Ships Races 2019 will be visiting the grand port of Aalborg. Aalborg has had a love affair with The Tall Ships Races since 1999, when the city hosted the event for the first time. Aalborg is situated at the Liim Fiord where it was founded by Vikings over 1000 years ago. Today Aalborg is a modern city with visible historic roots. Its theatres, symphony orchestra, performance venues, and museums, make Aalborg a great place to wind down after an exhilarating Sail adventure.
