* Places at request * Sustainable Sailing International Exchange for all nationalities and delivery to The Tall Ships Races. Join Thalassa in Brest, France for an exciting voyage to Spanish A Coruna. Sail across the Bay of Biscay on a Tall Ship and reach your destination in time to enjoy the maritime festival during the 2020 Tall Ships Races. The first part of your journey will be spent sailing day and night (in shifts), learning to trim the sail, steer, navigate and participate in plastic research with By the Ocean we Unite. You will also have the time to make new friends and enjoy the feeling of being out on the Atlantic. The last days you will spend in port, taking part in the events, such as the Crew Party, Crew Parade, games, competitions, fireworks and of course: seeing many impressive Tall Ships gathered in one place. This journey is open to Windseekers aged 15 and older.
Brest is a major French port on the Atlantic coast, historically of strategic importance. Much of the town was destroyed during World War II, but some historic landmarks remain. Today Brest is an important navy port, so expect to see war ships berthed in the harbor. Every four years, Brest hosts the international festival of the sea, boats and sailors, with many Tall Ships attending. South of Brest you will find national park d’Armorique, a tranquil reserve where you can escape from the city.
A Coruña is a port town in the north west of Spain. Here you will find the Tower of Hercules, a lighthouse that has been in operation for 1.800 years! The town itself is an affluent commercial and tourism hub, with plenty of things to see and do. Visit the popular beaches, explore the city centre, or sample some of the many cultural activities. The Aquarium Finisterrae lets you explore the marine life of the region. But if you prefer your fish on a plate, A Coruña’s restaurants can help you out.
