Thalassa:
Troon (GB) - Scrabster (GB)

17 August - 28 August 2024

Let Thalassa take you to the most beautiful areas of Scotland. Explore Scotland from its most beautiful and unique perspective, through the water. Let the wind and weather help determine the journey and surrender to the forces of nature. Places that are normally difficult or impossible to reach are waiting for you; their inhabitants will gladly welcome you with their Scottish cordiality. Enjoy the various species of free (sea) birds and the chance to be accompanied by dolphins and whale sharks during your trip. Open to all Windseekers over 15 years of age (please note that this is not a dedicated youth journey and we expect a large variety of ages on board).

Ports

Troon, situated on the west coast of Scotland, is famous for its Royal Troon golf course, one of the hosts to the Open Golf Championship. The course is chosen to host this annual event roughly every seven years. The Duke of Portland took the existing natural harbour on the north side of the headland and added docks. Troon has over the past few years become a popular place for kitesurfing. The strong winds coming from the Atlantic and from the north down the Firth of Clyde make it an ideal spot.

Scrabster is a small but town on the north coast of Scotland. Conveniently located on the Thurso Bay, the settlement dates back to the Vikings. Nowadays it's a gateway to the Orkney Islands by ferry, and a bustling fishing port.

STO Garant

This Journey is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions for this guarantee scheme on STO Garant’s website (www.sto-garant.nl/en/downloads).

This process is automatic and you do not need to do anything else. After receiving your booking, Windseeker will send you detailed information on how and when to pay for your journey – together with all the other important details.

What does it mean?

In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee. The Guarantee Scheme details how you can make a claim under the guarantee in such cases. You can read more about this here.
