Covid-19 measures

All of the Windseeker journeys are following the latest official guidelines in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19. At this moment some Ships require either a proof of vaccination, proof of having recovered from Covid-19 in the past 6 months, or a negative test result in order to embark. Some Ships only accept fully-vaccinated trainees. You might have to take an additional test despite being vaccinated, either before embarkation, or before stepping off the Ship in port. Make sure that your Digital Covid Certificate on hand and up to date before boarding.

Please be aware that these conditions may change, in which case we will inform you closer to the departure date. If you have any concerns about this, please email info@windseeker.org

However, if any trainee shows known signs/symptoms of Coronavirus they will be asked to take a test and may be refused boarding. Oosterschelde

Before the start of your trip
The crew is fully vaccinated. All guests must also be able to show proof of vaccination. You must send this proof to us at least 48 hours before boarding. NB: You cannot join the ship without a vaccination certificate. We advise to bring a paper version of your vaccination certificate too.
If the situation gives cause to do so, the crew can ask you to take a Sars-Cov-2 Antigen rapid test when you come on board. This test is provided by the shipping company. You are obliged to participate in the test.

Basic rules on board
The basic rules remain important:
– Wash your hands regularly
– Don’t shake hands
– Cough and sneeze into your elbow
– Ventilate: ensure a good flow of fresh air. There is sufficient ventilation in both the cabins and the communal areas.
– Keep your distance from each other if possible

Contract tracing
The shipping company will contact you after the trip to ask for feedback about your voyage. If you have developed symptoms of illness after the voyage, we ask you to report this to us so that we can inform your fellow passengers.

Travel insurance with Covid-19 cover
It is mandatory to take out travel and cancellation insurance with Covid-19 cover. With this you are insured if you have to cancel your trip due to covid-19. You are also covered if you get Covid-19 during your trip. We know that for instance Allianz in the Netherlands offers travel and cancellation insurance with Covid-19 cover.

If you are unable to travel to the ship due to travel restrictions imposed by the government and your insurance does not cover the voyage fee, the shipping company will refund the voyage fee in full. NB: This only applies to travel restrictions due to Covid-19. In all other cases, the general terms and conditions of the shipping company apply.

Covid-19 regulations per country
As the regulations per country change rapidly, we kindly request you to check what the requirements are for your nationality regarding the country you are travelling to and from with the Oosterschelde.
