Who can participate?

No sailing experience? No problem – everyone is welcome on board!
To join the Tall Ships Races, you must be at least 15 years old on the day your journey begins. Some voyages are specifically designed for young people aged 15–25, while others are open to participants of all ages.

All nationalities are welcome, as long as you have the necessary travel documents (passport, visa, etc.) for the countries on your route.

As part of the booking process, you’ll fill out a health form. If you have any serious medical conditions, we may ask for a doctor’s note to ensure your safety and wellbeing during the journey.

Should I book a hotel to enjoy the port activities?

No need – port activities are part of your journey and included in the price.

Most ships welcome you on board in the afternoon, with the first evening dedicated to meeting the crew, your fellow trainees, and getting familiar with the vessel. The next morning, you’ll join a spectacular Parade of Sail as you depart to sea alongside other ships.

At the end of your voyage, you’ll arrive at your destination port two days before disembarkation. These final days are all about celebration: Crew Parade, Crew Party, friendly competitions, live concerts, and the official award ceremony – all included!

Just keep in mind: about three days of your journey will be spent enjoying the festival atmosphere in port, rather than sailing.

What’s the difference between a Race and a Cruise in Company?

Race legs are for those who thrive on challenge and excitement. As the name suggests, it’s all about sailing fast, navigating efficiently, and reaching the finish line ahead of the others. You’ll learn by doing: trimming sails to catch the best wind, steering during critical maneuvers, and working closely with your watch to take waypoints and keep speed up. It’s intense, hands-on, and incredibly rewarding.

Cruise in Company offers a more relaxed pace – but just as much Sail Training. Without the pressure of a race, there’s time for everyone to try their hand at different tasks on board, learn thoroughly, and enjoy the rhythm of life at sea. The journey may include stops in smaller ports, spontaneous anchorages for a swim, or even a beach BBQ with another vessel!

So, what’s your style?
Got a competitive streak? Go for a Race leg and push yourself to the limit.
Prefer a more chilled vibe? The Cruise in Company is your perfect adventure!
