Insurance

In order to sail with Windseeker, you are required to carry with you the proof of being enrolled in the following:

1. Medical health insurance, for your home country (for example the European Health Insurance Card in the EU), and
2. Travel insurance, which covers medical expenses abroad, loss of luggage and third-party liability. Make sure that it includes sea sailing.

Please be aware that you need the proof of both of those in order to sail.

Your travel insurance should cover your journey from home to the ship and back. Make sure to include the travel days in the insurance coverage, not just the days you are actually on board.

Unless stated otherwise, cancellation insurance is not obligatory, but recommended. If your journey gets cancelled, you will only receive reimbursement of your journey fee but not any additional costs (like flights). It will also be helpful if you need to cancel the journey yourself.

Each Tall Ship has a Protection and Indemnity insurance, which covers you in the event youโ€™re hurt by actions that the crew take (or fail to take).

Recommendations

We have gathered some recommended insurance providers from different countries, but we cannot guarantee that each of them provides a sufficient coverage for everybody. Please make sure to check the conditions before buying the insurance, as it is your responsibility to ensure that the policy meets all the requirements listed above.

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ช Belgian trainees: check Assudis or DVV Verzekeringen. Only outside of the Tall Ships Races.

๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ Dutch trainees: check Allianz.

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ฐ Danish trainees: check Tryg.

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช German trainees: check DKV.

๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡บ Hungarian trainees: check Netrisk insurance comparison service. We recommend choosing โ€œsportโ€ as the goal for travel.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช Irish trainees: check the World Nomads Insurance.

๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ป Latvian trainees: check here or here.

๐ŸŒŽ We recommend Topsail Insurance for British and other non-EU trainees. At this time, Topsail is unable to insure trainees from the European Union.

At the moment we do not have recommendations for other countries.
