Svanhild operates mostly in the Gulf of Finland and the unique Finnish archipelago. There is a lot of coastal sailing that requires more maneuvering and navigation than offshore sailing. This means that there aren’t many dull moments on board. You might stop for the night along the rocks of a remote island, heat up the sauna, swim, enjoy the setting sun, and eat dinner on deck.
Svanhild is ideal for everybody who wants to take part in all activities without the sail training watch system. Guests are welcome to join in all activities they want, but have the freedom to choose what to participate in.
Svanhild was built in Grännes, Finland, in 1948 for timber freight traffic around the Baltic Sea. The current owner acquired Svanhild in 1972, the ship’s cargo hold was transformed into a recreational space, and new masts and rigging were constructed according to the ship’s original model. Renovations were continued in 2006 when Svanhild received a new keel and the ship’s technical systems and interior fixtures were renewed. In 2015 the ship was refitted with new rigging, adding a third mast, and square sails, making her a topsail schooner.
Svanhild’s guests sleep in 7 cabins, each with 2 or 3 bunks. There are 2 fresh water showers, 1 sauna, and 3 electric heads on board.
The accommodation is perfect for guests wanting more privacy, couples, and families.
