Alexander von Humboldt II:
Hamburg (DE) - London (GB)

11 May - 15 May 2015

Journey across the North Sea from Hamburg to London, a favourite destination for tourists and Windseekers alike! Step on board the Alexander von Humboldt II and learn the ropes as you make your way through some of the busiest waters in the world: the traffic separation schemes of the Baltic Sea. Meet new people, make new friends, and learn new sailing skills under the guidance of the experienced crew. Keep the night watch and be amazed by the star filled nights. On this journey you will sail along the Wadden Islands before crossing the North Sea towards the English coast, famous for its cliffs. Sail up the Thames and reach one of the busiest metropolises in the world. Open to Windseekers of all ages, age 14 and up.

Ports

The port of Hamburg, on the river Elbe, is the second largest port in Europe. Hamburg has more than 40 theatres, 60 museums and 100 music venues and clubs. Hamburg was awarded the title of European Green Capital for 2011. Hamburg is noted for several festivals and regular events. Hafengeburtstag is a funfair to honor the birthday of the port of Hamburg with a party and a ship parade. Christmas markets in December are held at the Hamburg Rathaus square, among other places.

London is a centre for business, finance, the arts and tourism. As such, the city has something to offer for everyone. But visiting London by ship makes the experience extra special. Go see a play in West End, explore Soho, or take a tourist bus for a sightseeing ride. Go to Hyde Park, close to Buckingham Palace, if the city bustle is a bit much after an ocean voyage. And work on your cultural karma by visiting a few of the many museums. London is so big you’ll need to revisit to see it all!
