Eendracht:
Leixoes (PT) - Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ES)

02 December - 10 December 2019

Course: Canary Islands. Leaving the European winter behind the Eendracht will take you on a journey south, to the Atlantic archipelago of Canary Islands. You will board the ship in Leixoes, outside of Porto, and set course for the open ocean. Spend your days on board actively sailing the ship: steering, navigating, handling the sails (as well as helping the cook and cleaning: everyone takes care of the ship together!). Enjoy the digital detox and going back to the simpler life, its rythm set by sea watches and meals. Look out at the starts, contemplate the never-ending horizon and take joy in the dolphins’ antics next to the ship. Step off board in sunny Gran Canaria and go back home with your batteries recharged. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Leixoes is a port town in northern Portugal, only 10 km out of Porto. It's one of Portugal's major seaports located near the estuary of the Douro River. Take a walk to the old fortifications, dine in one of the many seafood restaurants and then relax on a sandy beach. If you have more time and would like to explore, take a trip to nearby Porto, famous for its architecture - and wine!

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a cosmopolitan town, the shared capital (with Santa Cruz) of the Canary Islands. Situated on the ‘wet’ north side, the city feels more authentic than the touristy places on the ‘dry’ south side. Las Palmas offers beaches, cheap shopping, culture and excitement with a night life, primarily in the district of Vegueta. Its culture is decidedly Spanish, mixed with influences from all over the world, as Las Palmas’ port has been in operation for centuries.
