Mariehamn (AX) - Szczecin (PL)

26 July - 04 August 2024

*Places at request.* The Tall Ships Races 2024: Race 3. Join the Excelsior in the beautiful Aland Islands for the last – and longest – race of this year’s event. Sail all the way across the Baltic Sea to Poland, around a number of waypoints. Steer, navigate, work with sails, and do everything you can to win the race, sailing day and night (divided into three watches.) Make your way to Szczecin, where many Tall Ships, small ships and yachts will gather for the final celebrations – and of course you’ll be invited to be a part of that! March in a Crew Parade, cheer at the award ceremony, dance in the Crew Party; visit the other vessels and make international friends.
Open to young Windseekers aged 15-25.

Ports

Mariehamn is the capital of Aland Islands, an autonomous archipelago off the coast of Finland. The town has maritime ties, seen when visiting the Aaland Maritime Museum and the impressive Pommern museumship. Don't miss the old Maritime Quarter with its old fishermen houses and boats. With less than 12,000 inhabitants Mariehamn has a cozy and friendly atmosphere.

Szczecin in North-Western Poland has a deep commitment to sail training. Discover the Underground City Trails: a network of bunkers from WWII with their unique atmosphere. If you're more of an outdorsy type, take a canoe along the Odra river or explore Bukowe Hills which hide the ruins of old bridges and are home to numerous boars and deer. Visit one of many museums or the Castle of Pomeranian Dukes or the beautiful rose gardens.

STO Garant

This Journey is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions for this guarantee scheme on STO Garant’s website (www.sto-garant.nl/en/downloads).

This process is automatic and you do not need to do anything else. After receiving your booking, Windseeker will send you detailed information on how and when to pay for your journey – together with all the other important details.

What does it mean?

In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee. The Guarantee Scheme details how you can make a claim under the guarantee in such cases. You can read more about this here.
