International Exchange

Windseekers know no borders! And by sailing a Tall Ship, Small Ship or Yacht in one of our International Exchange programs, you will certainly set new cultural horizons. Of course you’ll get to maneuver, navigate, climb the rigs, cook and clean as you would during any other Windseeker Journey. But the International Exchange Program will add that global shine to your nautical adventure.

Aside from the excitement of sailing and port festivities, you will participate in a cultural program which allows you to enter debates, national dinner parties and games to bridge cultural differences. You can learn about such issues as sustainable innovations within the global maritime sector or worldwide seafarer’s history.

Language on board?

English. And don’t worry. Basic understanding of working English is enough. If you can read and understand this, you’ll be fine! The Crew will explain everything until everyone gets it.

Sailing experience?

Don’t need it! The beauty of Sail Training is that everyone can participate and an experienced professional Crew will teach you all that you need to know in order to reach your destination safely. They will guide you in your tasks – but don’t worry, you will catch on quickly and start to do everything together with your team. You will work in shifts: one in the day and one during the night – the Ship doesn’t stop just because it’s dark!The program allows you to enter debates, national dinner parties and games to bridge cultural differences. It will motivate you to tackle issues like sustainable innovations within the global maritime sector, and enrich you with knowledge on worldwide seafarer’s history.

Mentors

You’ll never sail alone. International Exchanges have mentors who will organize fun and educational activities for the Trainees (that’s you!). Mentors will also just be there for you, like a big brother or sister if need someone to talk to. They’ve been where you are and their job is to make you feel comfortable and welcome.
