Trainees on the Tecla

The Tecla is currently participating in the Race of the Classics for Young Professionals. This is a race that is organized every year in the autumn.

Yesterday the 24 participating vessels left the Veerhaven in Rotterdam, sailing in parade they went down the river Maas.

The race starts on the North Sea and every year the plan is to go to England stop over in Ipswich and then race back to IJmuiden. But every year it is the question if the weather is going to work with, or against the fleet.

This year the race did go to England. On the evening of the 15th the ships started their first leg in a straight line to England. No questions asked.

On board Tecla this year is the Deloitte Digital Team. 20 young professionals battling the elements side by side with the crew on board the Tecla. A challenge for both sides, the weather and the people. And the Tecla team did extremely well! They crossed the finish line as third vessel in the race, just behind the Wylde Swan and with the jib boom sticking over the aft deck of the Urania, the Dutch Royal Navy’s training yacht.

Now all vessels are moored in Ipswich and the teams are getting ready for the big party tonight. Here the results after the time correction will be published. And everybody will know what they will have to do in the next leg, to win the race.
