Santa Maria Manuela:
Delfzijl (NL) - Brest (FR)

03 July - 12 July 2016

After the SAIL Event DelfSail 2016 from the 29th of June until 3rd of July you leave Delfzijl together with the other Tall Ships. Look around and enjoy the view on all the Ships. Start hoisting sails. Steer the Ship. Sail with the Santa Maria Manuela via the North Sea and the English Channel to Brest, France. Where the International Maritime Festival of Brest takes place from 13-19th of July. Also 2 person cabins available, price € 1450. Open for all ages, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

The name Delfzijl means ‘sluice of the Delf’. The city is located in the north-east Netherlands and is home to the fifth largest port of this maritime country. Delfzijl is a picturesque place and taking a walk through its streets will certainly be rewarding. The unique Hanging Kitchens, and – of course – a windmill – are some of the architectural attractions, while the Muzeeaquarium hosts a few different collections.

Brest is a major French port on the Atlantic coast, historically of strategic importance. Much of the town was destroyed during World War II, but some historic landmarks remain. Today Brest is an important navy port, so expect to see war ships berthed in the harbor. Every four years, Brest hosts the international festival of the sea, boats and sailors, with many Tall Ships attending. South of Brest you will find national park d’Armorique, a tranquil reserve where you can escape from the city.
