Atyla:
Vannes (FR) - Rouen (FR)

02 June - 15 June 2019

This journey includes sailing from Vannes and a week on board in Rouen during the maritime festival. If you are only interested in sailing see the other journey which ends on June 8th. Two French Maritime Festivals. Join the Atyla in the Morbihan Gulf, where multiple vessels will be gathered for the Semaine du Golfe festival. Step on board to meet your new shipmates, learn the safety procedures and, finally, sail out. You will round the Brittany and enter the English Channel on your way to Rouen. L’Armada Rouen 2019 will be a unique celebration, connected to the Liberty Tall Ships Regatta. Many vessels will gather there to celebrate peace and friendship in Europe. You will help out on board (for about 5 hours per day) greeting the visitors and explaining what it’s like to sail on a Tall Ship. You will also have the chance to enjoy the festival and take part in the exclusive activities for crews. Open to all Windseekers, minumum age 15 years.

Ports

Vannes is a medieval French town with a distinctly Breton character. The well-preserved old city centre boasts many small pedestrian streets and colorful buildings, so go ahead and explore! Its sheltered location in the Golfe du Morbihan makes Vannes a populair sailing destination, and the surrounding countryside offers beautiful scenery – a perfect setting for a hike! In the summer Vannes organizes a Jazz festival and a historic festival, so you might be in luck when you arrive…

Rouen is a city with long history located on the River Seine in Normandy, North France. It's also the venue of L'Armada, a sailing festival which will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2019. When visiting Rouen you can't miss the Gothic Cathedral and Palais de Justice. For nature lovers the Roumare Forest just outside the city is the place to be, while art enthusiasts should visit Musee Secq des Tournelles - the wrought iron museum.
