Tomidi:
Antwerp (BE) - Lisbon (PT)

09 July - 24 July 2016

*No places available anymore* Get your duffel bag ready and set sail for Sail Antwerp with the Sail Training Yacht Tomidi. As a Windseeker you’ll be actively involved with all aspects of sailing the ship during Race 1 of the Tall Ships Races 2016. Keep the lookout while you’re on watch, take the helm, set and trim the sails, and help keep the Tomidi shipshape. Your Journey will take you across the Northsea each day more southly. Meanwhile you’ll make new friends with your fellow Windseekers as you share adventures and experiences. By the time you arrive in Lisbon you will be a formidable team, ready for anything! And your arrival in Lisbon has a bonus: Sail Lisbon 2016, with its many festivities like crewactivities, crewparade and crewparty. Open to Windseekers from all ages, minimum age 18 years.

Programme Outline

Ports

Antwerp is a city in Belgium, on the River Scheldt, which is linked to the North Sea by the Westerschelde estuary. Its long maritime traditions are clear in the fact that the Port of Antwerp is one of the largest in the world. Come by train and you will be greeted by the monumental Antwerpen-Centraal station. Art lovers cannot miss the Rubens House and Museum aan de Stroom, while the Chocolate Nation, the largest Belgian Chocolate museum in the world, should appeal to most visitors!

Lisbon has a long and varied history as a major trading hub, much of which is still visible in the old city centre. Discover Alfama, the old quarters with its many old alleys, steps and the Lisbon Cathedral. The famous tram line 28 will get you there – an experience in and of itself. And be sure to check out a fado concert if you want to learn about saudade – loss, yearning and comfort, all rolled into one. Emotions that all seafarers will get to know one way or the other…
