Johanna Lucretia:
Bremerhaven (DE) - IJmuiden (NL)

16 August - 18 August 2015

Sail with Johanna Lucretia from Sail Bremerhaven to IJmuiden, where the Tall Ship fleet will gather for the Parade of Sail In -the prelude to SAIL Amsterdam 2015. It’s quite a journey and time is tight, so if the winds are not favorable Johanna Lucretia will use her engine. This trip is a fine opportunity for any Windseeker who loves the salty air of the North Sea, and wants to work together with the experienced crew on this ship delivery tour. Embark in Bremerhaven and enjoy the festivities there, before you set course for Amsterdam along the Wadden Islands and the Dutch coast. You’ll be enrolled in the watches, so be prepared to steer the ship by day and by night. Open Windseekers of all ages, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Bremerhaven is one of the most important German ports, playing a crucial role in Germany’s trade. The town was founded in 1827, but settlements in the vicinity were settled as early as the 12th century. The main attractions for tourists are found at the Havenwelten and include the German Emigration Center and the German Maritime Museum, featuring the Hansekogge, a vintage cog dating from 1380, excavated in Bremen in 1962, and the historical harbour with a number of museum ships.

IJmuiden, on the west coast of the Netherlands, is the water gateway to Amsterdam. Cruise ships, cargo vessels and pleasure yachts pass through its busy locks every day, while the IJmuiden marina is an excellent spot to shelter for the North Sea storms. IJmuiden offers a wide, sandy beach that is popular with windsurfers and kitesurfers. Behind the dunes you’ll find a small nature reserve, perfect for a hike or a run. IJmuiden’s restaurants serve fresh fish, straight from the local market.
