Eye of the Wind:
Oban (GB) - Dublin (IE)

01 October - 06 October 2016

Sail the Irish Sea on board of the Eye of the Wind to cross from Scottish Oban to the lively capital of Ireland, Dublin. Observe the beautiful coasts along the way and enjoy spending some time in the country of Guiness.

Ports

Oban (meaning ‘little bay’ in Gaelic) is a small harbor town on the west coast of Scotland, famous for its whiskey distillery. The town occupies a beautiful setting in the Firth of Lorn, and is a perfect place to find shelter from the Atlantic. Walking around town is a pleasure, and close by you’ll find mountains, castles, dramatic coastal scenery, and McCaig’s tower that resembles the Colosseum. In the first week of August, the town plays host to West Highland week, a yearly sailing regatta.

Dublin is the capital and largest city of Ireland. It is located on the east coast, at the mouth of the River Liffey. Founded as a Viking settlement, the Kingdom of Dublin became Ireland’s main city. The city has many landmarks and monuments dating back hundreds of years that you can visit. Walk through one of the many parks Dublin offers; it has more green spaces per square kilometer than any other European capital city.

Today was the day that my adventure started: I would depart from Brest France to Langesund Norway on a 12 day long sailing voyage. I met different people from various nationalities, with whom we would create beautiful friendships.
