Alexander von Humboldt II:
London (GB) - Aarhus (DK)

16 May - 25 May 2015

Get ready for a Sail Training Journey on board the Alexander von Humboldt II. Cross the North Sea to explore the same routes as the Vikings did during their time. Your Journey will begin in the biggest metropolis of England. Sail down the Thames and out to the open sea. On your discovery of one of the oldest sailing routes you can enjoy the salty wind and sea birds following you in the fair winds. You will finish your Journey in Aarhus. An old Danish Viking city with a lot of cultural history. Under the guidance of the crew you’ll learn the ropes and help set the sails. Learn about navigation, sail trimming, and even climb the rigging if you’re comfortable. You’ll meet new people and make new friends from all over the world. Open to Windseekers of all ages, minimum age 14 years.

Ports

London is a centre for business, finance, the arts and tourism. As such, the city has something to offer for everyone. But visiting London by ship makes the experience extra special. Go see a play in West End, explore Soho, or take a tourist bus for a sightseeing ride. Go to Hyde Park, close to Buckingham Palace, if the city bustle is a bit much after an ocean voyage. And work on your cultural karma by visiting a few of the many museums. London is so big you’ll need to revisit to see it all!

Aarhus is a port on the northeast coast of Jutland, Denmark. One of its main attractions is the open air museum Den Gamle By, where historical buildings from all over Denmark have been relocated. But the 13th century cathedral is also well worth a visit. Aarhus is a relaxed place with enough to see and do, and its city centre is a favourite with Tall Ship crews who visit the city regularly. West of the city you’ll find lakes and forests, perfect for a hike.
