Newcastle (GB) - Weymouth (GB)

16 September - 23 September 2021

Join Tall Ship Blue Clipper for this hands on practical sailing adventure. Become a member of crew for this 7 night sail from Newcastle to the South coast of England, learning all the skills necessary to sail a 3-masted Schooner. Steer the ship, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in the day to day duties on board. Make new friends, learn some shanties and enjoy sunsets at sea. For Windseekers aged 15+ (ages 9-15 accompanied by a guardian at request).

Ports

Newcastle upon Tyne is a city on the River Tyne, on the North East coast of England, named after a castle built in the 11th century. You can climb the famous castle that gave the city its name and enjoy the beautiful vistas from the top. Take a walk around the quayside, with its numerous charming bridges and eclectic mix of cafes and bars. Take a guided tour of the Victoria Tunnel built in 1842. If you prefer to stay on the ground, you must visit the Jesmond Dene Park.

Weymouth is a state-of-the-art centre for water sports, and played host to the sailing regattas of the 2012 Olympic games. The town is a popular seaside spot with a nice beach, even though some of it is rather kitschy. Weymouth has just about the sunniest climate of the United Kingdom, further contributing to the town’s holiday feel. Weymouth is great for windsurfing, kitesurfing, diving and sailing. If you want to stretch your legs, the surrounding countryside offers many options for a hike.

STO Garant

This Journey is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions for this guarantee scheme on STO Garant’s website (www.sto-garant.nl/en/downloads).

This process is automatic and you do not need to do anything else. After receiving your booking, Windseeker will send you detailed information on how and when to pay for your journey – together with all the other important details.

What does it mean?

In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee. The Guarantee Scheme details how you can make a claim under the guarantee in such cases. You can read more about this here.
