Stavanger (NO) - Tromsø (NO)

30 June - 07 July 2017

Join the Christian Radich on her journey from Stavanger all the way up to Tromsø. We hope the winds are with the Radich, as they most often are this time of the year. That means a lot of sailing. Along the way you will notice how different the Norway’s coastline is. Western Norway’s coast is often steep, with fjords, islands and mountains. Further north, from Nord-Trøndelag, through the unique coast of Helgeland against the Vestfjorden, there are hundreds of thousands of islands. Then you will meet the famous Lofoten, a fantastic area with steep mountains straight down to the sea. As far north as this, the tide and currents are strong. The captain will have this in mind when he sets the route. Maybe there is time to go out and see Lofoten from the outside, or we can choose to go through one of the narrow fjords. In Lofoten we meet Vesterålen, Andøya and the beautiful island Senja, before the ship goes into the quay in Tromsø, the city called “Paris of the North”. The captain calculated enough time, so there will be time to make some stops along the way, and the options are so many. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years. (Age 12-15 accompanied by an adult). Afternight possible in Tromso – 60 EUR (B&B).

Ports

Stavanger is a modern port, but retains a small historic district. The lovely old harbour is a favourite stopover for big cruiseships that tower over the buildings. The city has a lively cultural scene, and is surrounded by numerous outdoor destinations well worth a visit. Explore the narrow, rocky Lysefjord and the mountains Preikestolen and Kjerag, or relax on Jæren’s beaches. Make sure to bring hiking boots, as the mountains stand over 1000 meters tall.

Only 2000 km from the North Pole Tromsö is the capital of Norway’s high north, home to 70 000 inhabitants who live on the edge of the Arctic. This well operated cruise destination is positioned in a spectacular setting between islands, iconic fjords and mountain peaks, midway between the North Cape and Lofoten Islands. Primary attractions include nature and wildlife tours, the Polar Museum and the arctic Cathedral.
