Rotterdam is the largest port of Europe, and a modern, bustling town. Much of the historic city centre was destroyed during World War II, but extensive rebuilding resulted in a modern, multicultural city with many architectural highlights. Rotterdam has excellent cultural facilities and a diverse nightlife; during the summer the city hosts a large number of events. Vlissingen is a port town in the southwest of Netherlands, dating back to the 7th century when it was first established as a fishing village. Notably, Vlissingen has the longest seafront promenade in the Netherlands, where you can take a long walk and enjoy the multiple historical monuments along the way. When you've had enough of walking, visit the Maritime muZEEum with its interactive exhibits and passionate staff. Wherever you end up, enjoy the atmosphere of a 14-centuries old seaside town.
