Oosterschelde:
Bordeaux (FR) - Camaret-sur-Mer (FR)

14 September - 23 September 2026

A French coastal journey under sail. Sail down the River Gironde to reach open sea, where you will hoist the first sails and set course northward. On board the Oosterschelde, you will take part in the watch system, learning to navigate and steer. You’ll hoist, trim, and take down the sails – there is always plenty to do on deck! With ample time for the journey to Camaret-sur-Mer, you will make a stop in one of the lovely coastal towns along the way (winds permitting!) Finally, you will sail into the harbour of Camaret-sur-Mer, the ‘golden’ Vauban Tower immediately catching the eye. Camaret-sur-Mer lies at the key entrance to the major naval port of Brest. After a final evening on board, you will say farewell to the ship and crew after breakfast the next morning.
Open to all Windseekers aged 18+. Younger trainees, accompanied by an adult, at request.

Ports

Bordeaux is famous for its wine, but the city itself also has a lot to offer. The cathedral, the Place des Quinconces and the Port de La Lune will have you gazing in amazement. The city also has a diverse cultural agenda and a bustling nightlife. To the south of the city you’ll find sandy beaches with enormous dunes that offer great surfing conditions on the waves of the Atlantic ocean. Every two years Bordeaux organizes a harbor festival, with many Tall Ships visiting.

Camaret-sur-Mer is a commune in Brittany, France, and home to the Golden Tower – a UNESCO World Heritage Site fortification guarding its harbour. Stretch your sea legs and take a hike to Pointe de Pen-Hir for amazing views of the Corozon Peninsula and its dramatic coastline, or see L’Arche de Camaret memorial for sailors who have been lost at sea. You can also relax on the sandy beach, or take a walk through town to enjoy its historical buildings.
