It’s time for adventure on the high seas! Sail the beautiful Santa Maria Manuela from Lisbon to Lorient and experience the thrills of the Gulf of Biscay. High waves and stiff breezes will propell you across the water as you and your fellow Windseekers learn the ropes on deck, under the guidance of the experienced crew. This Journey is perfect for everyone who is looking for an ocean experience, but doesn’t have a lot of time. Help out on board with whatever needs done and work together as a team to drive Santa Maria Manuela to maximum performance! You’ll be busy, but there’s also opportunities to spend some time with your favorite book, gaze out at the horizon, or watch the night skies filled with more stars than you’d ever see while on land. Open to all ages. Minimum age 14 years. Extra nights possible in Lorient (bed and breakfst) 19/20 and 20/21/ Price 60 EUR p.p.p.n.

Lisbon has a long and varied history as a major trading hub, much of which is still visible in the old city centre. Discover Alfama, the old quarters with its many old alleys, steps and the Lisbon Cathedral. The famous tram line 28 will get you there – an experience in and of itself. And be sure to check out a fado concert if you want to learn about saudade – loss, yearning and comfort, all rolled into one. Emotions that all seafarers will get to know one way or the other…

Lorient is a seaport in Brittanny, France, originally settled in 3000 BC. From the 17th onwards, the town became a major naval base and trading centre. A lot of the old buildings were destroyed by Allied bombardments in World War II, but there is still plenty to see. Today Lorient is a major French tourist destination with beaches, a wonderful yachting harbor and of course the beautiful Britanny coast line. It is a well-known port of call for ships crossing the Gulf of Biscay.
