Statsraad Lehmkuhl:
Bergen (NO) - Shetland Folk Festival (GB) - Bergen (NO)

02 May - 08 May 2018

SHANTY VOYAGE – Join the Statsraad Lehmkuhl to the Shetland Folk Festival. There will be daily Shanty singing and there will be 2 days to spend at the festival. Haakon Vatle has been a professional shanty singer for about 20 years and has been playing concerts on different venues both in Norway and abroad. He is an experienced musician and will have daily workshops with you during the voyage, where he also will provide you with a short introduction to the historic background and importance of music at sea. You will learn about sailing and the shanty music tradition. In Shetland the Folk Festival offers a great variety of concerts. The tickets for the concerts can be bought on the homepage for the Folk Festival in Shetland: www.shetlandfolkfestival.com. All meals and the nights at the harbour in Shetland are included in the price. It’s possible to sleep an extra night on board before and/or after your journey. Price € 60 p.p.p.n. including breakfast. Minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Bergen is the gateway to the Fjords of Norway and a well-established cruise port. It’s an international city packed with history and tradition, a big city with small-town charm and atmosphere. Stroll around old streets and alleyways, and mingle with the crowds at the Fish Market. Saunter along the listed wooden buildings at Bryggen to the old fortress at Bergenhus, or call in at one of Bergen’s museums and galleries. The panoramic views of the city, the fjord and the ocean are breathtaking.

The Shetland Folk Festival is an annual weekend Folk music festival taking place across the Shetland Islands, a scenic archipelago north of Scotland. Running for over 36 years, the festival continues to offer a range of traditional music and dance in the extreme north of the British Isles. If your Windseeker voyage arrives in the small port of Lerwick in April or May, you’ll have the chance to catch authentic Scottish cultural events, alongside pre-historic sites and rugged coastal scenery.
