Vahine

History

SY Vahine, Nautors Swan 65, is planned by Sparkman & Stevens and is called the most legendary Nautors Swan construction. The legend was created when Sauyula II, won the Whitbread 'around the world' race. The following year 4 Nautors Swan 65 boats were among the five fastest in the race. She is still a very fast boat especially in hard weather, in calmer weather Vahine is too heavy to be among the fastest boats.

Ship

SY Vahine is a member of the famous Nautor Swan family. Vahine is a typical klassic Swan, a 65 foot ketch, with the typical Swan interior. At the moment she is a Bermuda rigged ketch.

SY Vahine is a Nautors Swan 65, hull number 002. She was actually the very first built Swan 65 and was launched in 1973. Nautors Swan 65 is probably the most legendary vessel that Nautor has ever built. Sayula II won the Whitbread arround the world race, as a totally serial built yacht, not a racer as many of the contenders. This made the Swan 65 a legend, which she still is today.
