Bodø (NO) - Ålesund (NO)

25 July - 31 July 2017

On this voyage you will sail along the most stunning coastline in Norway, the coast of Helgeland. Well, Lofoten is great with its high mountains. But Helgeland’s mountains are also high. Here you can see the unique mountains “Dønnmannen”, “Lovund”, “Rødøyløva” and the “Seven Sisters”. Among these majestic mountains, there are thousands of small islands. Many of them have former fishing villages from where people gradually left for a better life in the cities. Nowadays aquaculture has taken over as the most important industry, and many smaller fishing villages have been restored and became tourist attractions. You see islands far out to the North Sea and the one as far as you can come, is Træna. This fishing village is dating from ancient times, nearly 9,000 years ago. Everywhere up north there is a unique birdlife. On the mainland, the glacier Svartisen is among the high peaks. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years. (Age 12-15 accompanied by an adult). Prenight in Bodø possible – 60 EUR (B&B).

Ports

Bodø is a town in Norway, located north of the Arctic Circle. Bodø is home to the world’s strongest maelstrom. The city is perfect for outdoor activities like walking, kayaking, diving and fishing, but also for climbing and hiking in the mountain range. Besides of impressing nature, you find there lively urban scene with shopping centres and diverse choice of cultural activities.

Ålesund is an intimate harbor amongst beautiful fjords, mountains and islands. Consisting out of seven islands, Ålesund is a modern city. In 1904 the city, once built largely of wood, was completely burned down by a sea of flames. After a period of planning, the town was rebuilt in stone, brick, and mortar in Jugendstil. Visit the Atlantic Sea Park on a rainy day or, if the weather is nice, go to the Sunnmoere Museum to see historic Norwegian houses and Viking relics.
