Gulden Leeuw:
Pictou (CA) - Miramichi (CA) - Quebec (CA)

01 July - 20 July 2017

Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta – Cruise in Company. Pictou – Miramichi – Baie-Comeau – Quebec. From Pictou we will enjoy the beautiful Gulf of S.t Lawrence and set sail towards Miramichi and Quebec. This is a cruise-in-Company (not a race) so it is time to enjoy not only the sailing and life on board, but especially also the amazing nature of Canada. The Gulden Leeuw was built with the function of sail training in mind. We are passionate about sail training and are eager to “show you the ropes.” As soon as you step on board we consider you as “one of the crew.” As one of the oldest European settlements in North America, Quebec City is the perfect location for a celebration that will be remembered for a long, long time. As well as the tremendous Tall Ships thousands of visitors from across Canada and internationally will enjoy free land activities, colorful crew parades and street artist performances. There will also be dinghy training and the opportunity to mix with 3,000 crewmembers from around the world. For all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Pictou is a town in Nova Scotia, Canada, famous for being the first landing place of the Scottish settlers. Enjoy the Pictou Harbor, the town’s pride, recently renovated, with the tall ship Hector replica. Visit a museum inside the former train station and the caribou Lighthouse. The waterfront boardwalk connects to the Trans-Canada Trail, the world’s longest network of recreational trails which connects the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of Canada. Don’t miss out on taking a walk there!

Miramichi is a city at the mouth of Miramichi river in a Canadian New Brunswick province. Its unique culture is a blend of Mi’kmaq, Acadian, English, Scottish, and Irish traditions. For a taste of the culture visit New Brunswick Potato World Museum or, if you have more of a sweet tooth, the Chocolate Museum. After you’ve worked up your appetite sit down in one of many restaurants to enjoy a fresh local salmon.

Quebec is the oldest port in Canada with the Old Quebec district declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you’re a nature lover, you cannot miss the Montmorency Falls, and if you prefer art, the National Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec is the place to go. Visit the aquarium for the unique exprience of witnessing polar bears from underwater and take a stroll through the Old Quebec, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
